OLD QUARRIES LANDSCAPING PROPOSAL
THE OLD QUARRIES
The Old Quarries are located in the eastern region of Elefsina, it stretches from the south of the highway to the waterfront. The main element of the proposal’s redevelopment is to explore the nature of the site and address urgent issues found in the site while respecting the historical background of Elefsina.

The diagrams on the left are depicting the three dimensional properties of the site’s current condition, this aims to assist in understanding the nature of proposal and the landscaping of the quarries.
An existing landscape plan is shown on the right, this outlines the vegetation currently located within the old quarries site.

A proposed landscape plan visualises the ‘green’ intentions of the proposal and the overall improvement of the existing green spaces.
The proposed topographical plan shows the development complete, including the proposed amenities and improvements throughout the Old Quarries site. The section below provides a clearer impression of the third dimension of the proposal.

The proposal contains the installation of new and improvement of existing services listed below:
1. New site access from the North East end of the Old Quarries
2. Re-arrangement of the existing open air theatre, including new amphitheatrical sitting area
3. Restoration of the existing buildings and use of those for the Environmental Education Centre

4. New sidewalks throughout the site which will offer a number of routes for the visitor to choose
5. Restoration and conservation of the existing Venetian Tower and installation of new concrete sculptures on the peaks of the hill

6. New agricultural facilities for commercial use which link back to the rural heritage of the city
